Pretty fire

Went to a BBQ with some old friends, should have taken more pictures but was too busy swatting away flies.  This was the highlight of the evening, watching the grill suddenly burst into flames.  At least that was the last batch of meat on there.

More festivities to come when everyone finishes with finals and graduation.  It’s so nice to be able to let loose and relax now, since I have only one more exam to take.

Also, new layout!

My garden

It’s still a work in progress but it’ll be amazing when my roses, tomatoes, blueberries, and cucumbers start flowering and fruiting in June.  My cilantro went into overdrive and I have coriander seeds for cooking now.

Yes, that's my cockatiel hanging out on the table

Artsy kind of shot, I have a mirror mounted on the fence to reflect a bit more light

Beavers Bend State Park, Oklahoma

My family randomly gave me a call informing me that they were going to book a cabin in the woods in Oklahoma for Spring Break. I was very skeptical at first, but in the end it was a pretty decent trip. It’s nice to get out into nature sometimes.

Planting flowers

Gardening

The front walkway looked terrible, owing to the fact that nothing wants to grow under the heavily shaded porch.  Of the plants I put in last year, only the iris, two chrysanthemum plants, and a fern lived through the winter.  The hostas, fern #2, and elephant ears either froze to death or got run over by bikes.  I spotted flower stalks on the iris so hopefully I’ll have pretty blue/yellow flowers in a few weeks.

Planted some azaleas, petunias, and trying out some english ivy to cover the barren ground next to our walkway.  I’m hoping the bright indirect sunlight will be enough to keep them all alive.

New design

Even though I have my mock lab practical in six hours, I can’t sleep at all.  I think I’ve spent the last 2 hours messing with Wordpress and destroying all rules of valid coding and I broke my admin interface somehow.  But it looks pretty!

Also, I want this lens.    But I can’t justify paying more than $70 for it.  Stupid Amazon is watching me I swear.  They end their sale right before I look it up, and have been teasing me by lowering and raising the price on a weekly basis.  Usually only fluctuates by $5, and all the photography forum people keep telling me to find it used or wait for a sale (which they are positive will happen at one of the major retailers because of past trends).

Patience is a virtue….pffffffft.
