Me with a kangaroo in Ballarat, summer 2006
Long story short, I refuse to be a patron of a company who engages in shady business practices by hiding or being extremely vague about their ToS.
I wasn’t terribly attached to the jessles.com domain, I registered it under impulse one night. The probably with having such a common name like Jessica is that everything has been taken already. I would love to use gmail, except they require a 6 character minimum, canceling out jshan. And every other permutation of my first and last name is taken. The same story with Yahoo. Not until I found out Microsoft/hotmail started live.com did I finally get a nice simple email I can stick with (jshan@live.com)
A lot of my internet friends refer to me as Jessaroo or Jebaroo so figured, why not? I’m still debating whether I want to register jessicashan.com . I have no use for it and prefer not to use my full name as an address, but I’d be terribly upset if someone else snatched it up.
It did take me quite awhile to get everything working again though, since I had to deal with messed up nameservers, change site urls in the MYSQL db, and a bird who kept walking around my keyboard and triggering strange things in my ftp client.
But yes, I’ve officially kept this thing up and running for a year now!
